Safeline is
a charitable organisation which was originally established
in 1994 by women who were themselves sexually abused as
children.
The
Objects of Safeline are
to relieve suffering and advance education amongst people
experiencing the after effects of the trauma of rape and
sexual abuse, without distinction of gender, sexual orientation,
race, colour or of political, religious or other opinions.
-
To
relieve suffering from the after effects of the trauma
of sexual abuse or rape
-
To
offer support and education and to promote awareness
-
To
provide a fundamentally safe place for people to be
themselves without pressure, judgement or expectations
being placed upon them
-
To
collect and diffuse information on the trauma of childhood
sexual abuse or rape and the after effects in adult
life by means of groups, helpline, counselling, befriending,
training and workshops
-
To
raise funds required for the achievement of these objectives
Our services are
available for women, men, and young people also for partners,
carers, parents and anyone who has been affected by the
trauma of childhood sexual abuse or rape.
Our
services are available throughout Warwickshire and Coventry.
Sexual Abuse is
not something new it has gone on for generation upon generation
and has been pushed ‘under the carpet’ for
many years.
Many
survivors have suffered since they were children, wondering
who can they tell? and will they be believed?
-
You
may have tried to tell people when you were younger and
no one listened.
-
You
may sometimes feel dirty and guilty and also want to
harm yourself.
-
You
can sometimes feel very small and that the world is a
big hostile place with nowhere for you to be safe.
-
You
may lack confidence and have low self esteem.
If you have experienced
any of these feelings and would like to talk to someone
who won’t judge you but will listen and believe then
you can contact Safeline on 01926
408315 during office hours to speak to
a trained member of staff.
Alternatively,
call our Freephone Helpline 0808
800 5005 during weekday evenings and speak
to one of our trained volunteers. You can talk to them
in confidence, arrange an appointment to come in and see
us or they can put you in touch with a network of services
if you live outside of our area.
